Gerard von Hoffmann is a partner at the law firm of Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, LLP, where he specializes in intellectual property strategies for early stage medical device companies. He holds an A.B. in Chemistry from Rice University and Occidental College and received a J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law. Mr. von Hoffmann attended the Institute on International and Comparative Law at Oxford University, England, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Helen W. Nies, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Patent Law at the University of San Diego School of Law, and also served on the boards of several private and public medical device companies.
